This is what the Vimar Group offers. An offering that reflects a long history built on tradition, expertise, commitment and passion for a chosen line of work.
Vimar Group. The five points of excellence.

MADE IN ITALY

The heart of the company - where we devise, design and produce products - is still located in the north-east of Italy, because we believe in the Made in Italy in all its forms.
Our products are inspired by a truly unique combination of high quality aesthetics and reliable technology.
From materials and design to electronic processing, we distinguish ourselves through a renowned style that speaks our language throughout the world.

HIGH QUALITY

We believe that the quality of our products is their best calling card, and this is why we test our products one by one. We are proud of our ownership
of the most important quality certifications to UNI EN ISO 9001:2008; our environmental management system is certified to the UNI EN ISO 14001:2004
standard, without forgetting health and safety, with our work environment certified to the BS OHSAS 18001:2007 standards.

WE IMPLEMENT IDEAS

We invest 6% of our annual turnover in Research and Development, to ensure we always offer the very best in terms of technology and design. Over the years we have registered over 150 patents around the world that testify to the equal attention we devote to major innovation and
the smaller details that guarantee the safety of simple everyday actions.

The correct waste material separation ensures the product designed at the outset of being totally dismantled and recycled at the end of its life. Thanks to the water based and UV-cross linked painting we reduce atmospheric emissions of VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) lower than the limits set out by the strictest European standards and galvanic bath treatment is replaced with the innovative and greener MSD (Magnetron Sputtering Deposition) treatment. The packaging is made of recycled materials and printed with water-based inks with no harmful substances and with ecological glues.

We have given shape and life to ideas in order to ensure continual improvement in every lifestyle. Today, for the all-round management of electrical systems, we have a complete range of products:
wiring devices, home & building automation systems, video door entry and CCTV and
gate automation systems, plugs, socket outlets and accessories. Over 9,000 items in the catalogue that combine aesthetic quality, technological reliability and ease of installation to bring them home to all our customers.

The universe of Vimar group solutions.
For large or small residential, commercial buildings or hospitality facilities, clinics or yachts, we have developed solutions that dialogue with each other, while maintaining their own specificity: technologically advanced

Increasing the intelligence of a home. And its value.

Everything under control, even when there is no one at home: rolling shutters can still be raised and lowered, and closed circuit TV cameras continue to be supervised. Create scenarios for well-being, with lighting and climate settings regulated to suit the situation. Monitor and optimize energy usages throughout the home. Make every room safe and secure, using technologies designed to protect both people and property. All these elements combine to increase the intelligence of a home, and all are obtainable with a single home automation system: By-me.

Strengths
By-me is the home automation system developed by Vimar for residential properties (apartments, single dwellings, etc.) and small businesses (shops, offices, etc.). Thanks to sophisticated technology communicating with simple and intuitive interfaces (touch screens), the user can keep control and maintain the security of the entire home, manage comfort levels, select a preferred temperature and view images captured by analogue and IP cameras. All of which characterized by simplicity and immediacy.

Strong points of the By-me system:
integration of all home automation functions: lights, rolling shutters, energy management (temperature and load control), video door entry, burglar alarm, security and sound system;
visual coordination with components of Eikon, Idea, Arké and Plana series;

facility of adding more functions at a later time, having designed the installation initially with numbers of back boxes sufficient to accommodate further controls and devices;
a generous offering of solutions designed to meet every single customer need (regarding function and price);
simple and quick installation using a control unit or a PC with EasyTool Professional software for programming all devices included in the system;
simple and intuitive touch screen interfaces;
free smartphone and tablet applications for remote and local control  of  the system.

The main feature of the By-me system is that of flexibility, that is to say the facility of programming and reprogramming functions and controls according to personal preference; devices are interconnected "logically" over the bus (twisted pair). Each By-me component, including those providing the simplest of functions

(buttons for example) can receive and transmit coded control and warning signals over the bus cable. Information placed on the bus circulates around the system and is picked up only by the designated target devices. Individual control, sensing and actuator devices can be connected at any given point on the bus, in no particular order; functions and logical connections can be defined either by the control unit, programmable using a simple prompt-led menu, or using a PC running the EasyTool Professional application. The configuration can be modified to change the correlations and operating conditions of the system, without any alterations to the wiring. The functions of each component can be reprogrammed at any time to ensure the best possible response in the face of user needs. If a component is replaced (such as a switch or a relay actuator), the control unit (or EasyTool Professional) will send the previously designated programming to the new device.
This is a fundamental advantage in the residential sector (pied- a-terre, medium and large apartments, terraced houses, villas, small and large apartment blocks), but also in the commercial, where premises are increasingly being put to different uses or undergoing a change of layout (open space offices, partition walls, etc.).
Once the new system has been configured, the configuration database will be saved to the PC using the EasyTool Professional LT application. This makes it possible to clone a new control unit in the event of replacement.
In addition to the functions of the LT version, EasyTool Professional can be used to set up the system (creation, variation and deletion of scenarios, events, keys and codes for the burglar alarm system, etc.), as well as for commissioning and running diagnostics, performing maintenance, and monitoring the entire installation. Operation of the EasyTool Professional software application is enabled by activating the licence (with a product key) contained in the USB stick supplied as part of item 01992. The functions of the system are listed below.

Control
The great advantage of the By-me system is that it provides  a centralized control facility for the entire dwelling. Position curtains or rolling shutters, select climate, lighting and sound system settings, control access points, view images captured by CCTV cameras and video entrance panels. Everything can be controlled from a single point, typically a touch screen equipped with simple and intuitive interfaces. This supervision of all functions has the effect of simplifying household management considerably, optimizing the use of time and resources.

All functions can be controlled locally, in response to needs as and when they occur. Simply adjust the relative device, and conditions in every room of the home will be adapted to whatever situation or necessity presents itself.
In addition, the various functions can be supervised and controlled remotely over the internet — using a COMPUTER, mobile phone, smartphone or tablet of the latest generation — so that contact with the home can be maintained around the clock, from anywhere.

Local supervision. With the help of controls, touch screen supervisors and mobile devices connected to the Wi-Fi network (PC, tablet, smartphone), users can interact with the By-me system to select and organize scenarios, lights and temperatures, sound system and video door entry functions. The multimedia video touch screen, suitably connected to the Web server by way of a router, will allow supervision of the entire home automation system in local mode exploiting the LAN network.

Remote supervision.
The By-me Web server allows users to manage the By-me home automation system by way of a desktop PC, notebook, tablet or touch-screen, as long as these have a browser that can display web pages. It allows total supervision and control of the devices making up the system from a remote location, through an internet connection.
This means that from a computer, it will be possible to check on the status of the system, the events log, etc., and view the feed from the IP cameras.

Also available for mobile devices is By-web: an application downloadable free of charge from the main webstores  (Apple Store, Google Play), which allows faster access to the functionalities of the By-me system.

Using a mobile phone, there is also the option of interacting with the By-me system via GSM communicators, which allow the user to monitor and control the status of single devices, changing the relative parameters, programming the system and running diagnostics operations.
Accordingly, it will be possible to activate scenarios or previously selected automation programmes, and check and/or adjust the temperature setting in one or more zones — all remotely.
The system itself will also warn of any critical situations detected, such as the activation of an alarm system, technical alarm alerts, or a power failure, by way of the GSM communicator.

10" IP Multimedia video touch screen Remote supervision and control of system

Touch screen. Elegant technology, intuitive navigation; this is the user interface that provides control over the many functions of the system and the different areas of the home, retrieving scenarios, adjusting the temperature, setting the sound system and activating automations.

Comfort
With By-me, comfort is total: every room in the home becomes an oasis of well-being where a set of preferred conditions can be experienced.
In effect, the user can dim the lighting to create welcoming relaxation areas, manage the sound system, position curtains or shutters to give the right amount of light for various daytime activities, adjust the brightness of different lamps — conventional and energy-saving — or create interplays of light to furnish rooms and make them still more comfortable, perhaps with music from the sound system too.

All this is achievable by creating preset scenarios to suit particular needs, for example by switching on groups of lamps and at the same time regulating the indoor climate under prescribed conditions or on special occasions, as well as switching off all the lights when vacating the premises.
And when the need arises, the various parameters can be changed at a simple touch.

Scenarios. These are functions that allow the user to "retrieve" a preferred set of conditions via a single instruction or event; creating a scenario at the control unit or on a computer is simplicity itself.

Event A program that enables/disables groups and/or scenarios under specific circumstances and/or at selected times, according to simple logic rules governed by the control unit.

Sound system. The sound system can be split up into a maximum of 60 separate audio zones, with independent programming of sound levels in each zone; other functions offered by the system include microphone calls, ambient listening and baby control.
All audio functions can be integrated with scenarios and event programs of the automation system (radio and alarm clock, for example).

Lights and rolling shutters. Thanks to the use of programmed switches, which may also incorporate an actuator, rolling shutters can be raised and lowered (likewise Venetian blinds, angle of louvres) and lights can be turned on and off and dimmed, so as to create just the right level of comfort in every room.

Smartphone and remote control handset. Added value in terms of installation flexibility. If the system includes the Web server, it can also be operated with the By-web smartphone application, using the Wi-Fi connection when at home, and the internet when out and about.
The 14 channel remote control handset, with infrared receivers, can be used to operate lights, shutters and scenarios while remaining comfortably seated on the sofa.

Efficiency
In a traditional electrical system, climate and energy control is assigned to local devices not normally integrated with other circuits installed in the home.
With By-me on the other hand, all these devices are fully integrated, which means that many additional functionalities become available, ensuring concrete advantages in terms of economy and living comfort alike.

With temperature control incorporated into a scenario, for example, the system can be set up so that whenever the home is left empty, the temperature will be switched automatically  to stand-by mode, simultaneously lowering the shutters and activating the burglar alarm system, so that there need be no unwanted and costly oversights.
Climate control functions can be activated or deactivated as and when rooms are occupied or empty, or windows opened and closed, using the same sensors and magnetic contacts as for the burglar alarm system, which in this instance become dual-purpose.
In addition, the climate throughout the dwelling can also be monitored and controlled —room by room or zone by zone — not only from a single central location, such as an attractive touch screen, but also remotely, using a mobile phone, smartphone or tablet. In this case the temperature will always be exactly as desired, increasing comfort levels and avoiding unwanted waste.
The system can manage up to 40 climate zones, with an equivalent number of thermostats installed and connected to the control unit in such a way as to work as timer thermostats (automatically, manually, etc.).

Another important function offered by the system is that of energy management, obtained by supervising and controlling selected sockets in such a way as to disconnect loads identified as low priority, thereby avoiding the nuisance of power failures caused by usage above the contracted load limit.

Besides monitoring power used by the system, the displays of the various touch screens, PCs or tablets used for control purposes can show present and past usage levels both for electricity and for other monitored utilities (water, gas), so that the use of energy resources in the home can be kept permanently under control.
The functions are organized in three main menus:
- Load control: operating via the load control module, this allows the user to monitor the amount of electricity being consumed in order to prevent the overload breaker tripping and, if necessary, disconnect the monitored loads according to priority. Single-phase and three-phase systems with or without photovoltaic generation can be managed, with a maximum 16 priority groups.
- Measurement control: up to 20 By-me groups can be used to configure power meters, actuators or pulse counter devices for the purpose of displaying data on a By-me touch screen or web server.
- Alarms management: the groups in which the actuators are configured can be displayed showing measurement of the current, and alarms that may be tripped by the selfsame actuators can be displayed and/or reset.
To check on power consumption, while also taking account of energy that may be produced by a photovoltaic system, it will be necessary to install the load control module, which is managed by the control unit in the same way as other items of

equipment in the system. The load control module can restore disconnected services automatically, as soon as the total energy consumption of the system returns to a level below the setting.

Universal dimmers. These are compatible with all light sources (incandescent, fluorescent and halogen lamps, LED, RGB and LED strip). Control of lighting is perfectly integrated with all other By-me functions (automation, climate, sound system, etc.) and can be associated with scenarios, logic functions and environmental situations.

Security
The By-me system offers the facility of protecting the home both from possible break-ins, and from environmental damage that could occur.
The burglar alarm function uses different methods for detect- ing the entry of unauthorized persons into the home, whether occupied or empty, and there is also the facility of having an SMS TEXT MESSAGE or call sent directly to a mobile phone in the event of the alarm being activated. The alarm system can be configured to cover up to 9 zones. This makes it easier on the one hand to monitor each of the single zones and detect the cause of an alarm, and on the other, to customize access to different zones of the property, by entering a code at the relative control device. For example, the gardener might be authorized to access the garden but not the actual dwelling; the baby-sitter might be authorized to access the living rooms, but not the bedrooms.

The alarm system can be combined with a video surveillance system that will scan the entire property using both outdoor and indoor TV cameras, some of which extremely compact, capable of operating in any ambient conditions: daytime, night time and even in total darkness. The feed from the camera can simply be viewed on a touch screen or other type of monitor (TV monitor included) or recorded, processed and transmitted to a remote location is necessary. Which means that the images can be viewed on a mobile phone, smartphone or tablet.
And with security in mind, the video door entry system will also give a perfectly clear, high definition image of whatever is happening outside.
Thanks to the dialogue between video entrance panels and internal units of the latest generation, an occupant can always see clearly who the caller is, and decide whether or not to open the door. And opening will be simplified by a wide range of automation options — easily installed, precision engineered and quiet in operation — ensuring troublefree operation of all types of gates, garage doors and shutters.
But security also covers safety: protecting the home against accidental damage, such as gas leaks or flooding. Dedicated sensors (technical alarms) will detect any possible gas leak or signs of a flooding event and, thanks to integration with the By-me system, send an alarm message by SMS or e-mail, and automatically shut off the solenoid valve controlling the supply line to make the room completely safe.

Burglar alarm. The burglar alarm system, fully integrated with By-me, enables users to keep their homes secure by installing series of devices designed for both flush mounting, coordinated with residential product range, and surface mounting. The selection of wired and wireless sensors on offer can be integrated by way of contact interfaces and specialist sensors

to cover all possible needs.
The system operates with  9  partitionable  zones  and  can be controlled using digital keypads and touch screens or a smartphone, locally or remotely (with web server and GSM communicator).

Video door entry. With video touch screens and video entrance panels, occupants of a dwelling can communicate with callers and manage all of the functions associated with the Due Fili Plus video door entry system (open electric locks, switch on stair and landing lights, etc.).

Video control. The possibility exists of configuring simple and flexible video surveillance and ambient listening systems able to meet installation requirements in residential and business premises, integrated with products of the Elvox range.
Home automation and video surveillance functions can be combined with the aid of supervisors and TV cameras to create a fully integrated system.
Independent CCTV systems can use the 10" multimedia video touch screen, the 4.3" video touch screen, the Arké flush mounting internal unit or the flush mounting monitor equipped with CCTV module (01964).
With a Web server installed in the home automation system, the live feed from IP cameras of the CCTV system, or analogue cameras connected by way of a DVR, can be viewed remotely (on a PC, tablet or smartphone).

Technical alarms The following devices can be connected via the contact interface:
- gas detectors (LPG and methane): these will sense when there is an excessive amount of gas in the air, emitting an audible and visual alarm signal and piloting the operation of a solenoid valve downstream of the meter to shut off the flow of gas;
- carbon monoxide detector: warns of danger by emitting an audible and visual alarm signal; the device will also pilot the operation of a solenoid valve either to shut off the flow of gas or to shut down the boiler;
- smoke detector: indicates the presence of smoke by emitting an audible and visual alarm signal.
In addition, all irregularities can be indicated by way of:
- control unit with display of alarm message;
- Web server connected over the internet to mobile devices (computer, smartphone or tablet);
- phone communicator contacting mobile or landline number;
- touch screen with display of alarm message.

The system
By-me operates on the principle of distributed logic: intelligence not centred on the control unit, but shared between the devices making up the system. The functional correlations between the devices are configured in such a way as to create functions directly accessible by the end user.
To switch on a light, for example, a functional group must be created, containing at least one switch functional unit and one actuator functional unit.
Functional units are logic cells that can perform just one function. Physical devices are designed to control one or more functional units. For example, a switch having two rocker buttons contains two functional units that can be used independently of one another to control 2 different loads.  With the By-me system, up to 480 functional groups can be created for each control unit (these are also configurable on  a computer running EasyTool Professional software), using any of the various functions available (automation, climate control, sound system, etc.). The medium of communication is the Bus cable; each Bus line (a pair of polarized conductors providing the interconnection between the various components of the system) can accommodate a maximum 128 devices (buttons, actuators, thermostats, touch screens, etc.), whilst the maximum length of the Bus cable is 1000 metres. Described below are the concepts of functional unit, functional group  and group depth.

Functional unit: part of a device that can be considered as if it were an individual function (Fig. 1). Some examples:

1 device with one functional unit: the functional unit is equivalent to the device itself, for example an actuator with 16 A 250 V~ changeover relay output (Eikon 20535; Arké 19535, Idea 16975;
Plana 14535);
2 device with two functional units: in the interface for conventional controls (Eikon 20515, Arké 19515, Idea 16955 series, Plana 14515), each of the two inputs is a functional unit;
3 device with three functional units: in a control component with two rocker switch buttons and actuator (Eikon 20526, Arké 19526, Idea 16966, Plana 14526) there are three functional units: left button, right button and actuator, which to all intents and purposes — from the standpoint of configuration and operation — constitute 3 distinct devices;
4 device with four functional units: in a control component with three rocker switch buttons and actuator (Eikon 20547, Arké 19547, Idea 16987, Plana 14547) there are four functional units: left button, centre button, right button and actuator, which to all intents and purposes — from the standpoint of configuration and operation — constitute four distinct devices.

Functional group (or Group): set of functional units connected logically with one another to provide one function of the system (for example: three different buttons operating a single actuator and consequently controlling a single load). The devices making up a functional group are connected to each other logically, and not by a conventional wiring arrangement (Fig. 2).

Groups must comprise only functional units of the same basic type: no single group can incorporate an actuator for the operation of rolling shutters and an actuator for switching on a lamp.

To switch a load on and off from different points in the dwelling, it will be sufficient to add extra functional units to the group; there is no need to disturb the wiring.

Group depth: number of groups to which one functional unit can belong. Each functional unit can belong to as many as 4

different groups (Fig. 3).

System architecture
Two methods are available for programming and configuring the system: by way of the control unit, or from a personal computer running the EasyTool Professional application. The various de- vices are connected one with another by way of a Bus cable. The architecture offers the facility of organizing the system adopting a structure of 15 areas connected to a backbone (Area 0, Line 0 dedicated to the burglar alarm system). Each of the 15 areas can be split up into 16 lines, each allowing the connection of up to 128 devices.
The lines are connected one with another by way of couplers (routers) that will allow the passage only of messages established at the time of programming the system. Each line will be connected to 1 or at most 2 power supplies, depending on the demand of the devices installed.

The system allows the creation of scenarios (max 32), which when selected will retrieve certain preferred settings; (lights On/ Off/dimmed, shutters up/down, climate control On/Off, etc.) the simultaneous activation of these settings serves to create a particular atmosphere or respond to a given situation.
Through the creation of custom programs or events (up to 16 different programs available), the system allows users to ensure that automated functions will cut in at a selected time or when certain conditions occur.
Accordingly, multiple actions can be programmed to take place at a given time, for example: when getting up in the morning, the light switches on at a selected dimmer setting, the sound system comes on, the shutter is raised and the towel rail warms up in the bathroom. Clearly, the programming of the system can be customized according to the nature of the rooms and the way that the various devices are utilized (for example by changing the names of groups, of scenarios, of parameters, of programs, etc.).

The sound system allows high quality reproduction of the selected audio signal (same quality as CD) and will deliver up to 4 different audio sources simultaneously to the speakers of different rooms.
Thanks to the range of audio devices made available, and their complete interoperability with all existing By-me automation controls, it is possible to create single or multi channel systems fully integrated into the home automation system.
Compete freedom of choice and control is provided in all parts of the home, and with multi-channel capability, the system  will allow different music feeds to different rooms (up to 60 independent listening areas).
The sound system is designed on the principle of distributed architecture, which means that transmitters and receivers can be installed at any given point (entry/exit wiring). For further details on the system, refer to "Biblioteca Tecnica di Diffusione Sonora", which is downloadable from the www.vimar.com website.

The By-me burglar alarm system can include up to 60 devices divisible into 30 groups or 9 distinct zones, and, in combination with contact interfaces and radio frequency interfaces, will control technical alarms or allow the integration of RF sensors installed in all those locations where it may not have been possible to prewire the building. Since burglar alarm systems must remain powered up even in the absence of mains voltage, the devices in question belong to Line 0 (Area 0) and are guaranteed auxiliary power in the event of an outage occurring. The system is activated/deactivated/partitioned by means of numeric keypads, transponders or radio remote controls and powered by way of one or two adapters and one or two back- up units (according to demand); as in the case of the automation system, the burglar alarm system can be customized to meet different requirements, such as the nature and layout of the rooms, the operating modes of the system, and the parameters of the various components.

Line installation topology
The By-me system is designed in such a way that the devices of a given line can be connected in practically any order, with the exception of sound system components (refer to "Installation rules" under the "Sound system" heading).
The cable for Vimar Bus systems (01840 for automation, 01840.B for the sound system and 01840.Y for the burglar alarm system) (2x0.5 mm2) is insulated for 400 V nominal voltage to earth and can be routed along the same ducts as are used to carry category I power cables.
In the case of new buildings, it is good policy to install a separate dedicated duct for the Bus cable.

When installing the system, it is advisable to select consumer units of the appropriate size and, depending on the types of control devices adopted and the number of loads to be handled, to install 3-or/and 4-module boxes (V71303 and/or V71304).

The following basic requirements must always be taken into account when designing the system:

maximum distance between 1 power supply and last device:
350 m;
maximum distance between two components: 700 m;
maximum length of Bus cable for one line: 1,000 m;
minimum distance between two power supplies on the same line: 40 m.

3-module control unit
The 3-module control unit allows configuration of the system for the management of control lights, rolling shutters/louvres, climate, scenarios, events (which can be activated at set times and/or when certain situations occur), loads, sound system, burglar alarm, etc.; all menus can be viewed by way of a graphic interface that is highly intuitive and therefore very simple to use, both during operation and during configuration of the system. The control unit has a touch screen display, which means there are no keys to press; instead, all functions and settings can be selected simply by touching the relative icon or text with a fingertip, or using the stylus provided.

A number of passwords can be configured from the control unit, making it possible to control user access to the various functions selectively and to view the last 80 events logged   by the burglar alarm system (enable/disable, alarms and the devices by which they were tripped, etc.).
Similarly, the thermostats can also be programmed (daily and weekly settings) from the control unit.

The device can be installed either in a 3-module flush mount- ing box (V71303), or using the special DIN rail mounting frame (60715 TH35) (V51923 and V51921) included in the pack with the control unit.

Automation

Switches, which may or may not have an actuator incorporated, and can be programmed from a control unit or from a computer (running EasyTool Professional software) as follows:
for rocker buttons: On/Off; dimmers; shutters and louvres; activation of scenarios;
for plain buttons: On/Off (sequential); On only; Off only; activation of scenario; doorbell button;

These switch controls are completed with button covers, to  be selected according to the envisaged function (one or two modules, with or without symbols, customizable, with label on which to write the name of the function). In the case of Eikon Tactil switches, labels are applied to the buttons, with icons identifying the function.
The warning indicator LED can be configured always on, always off, alight with load On, alight with load Off (not for Eikon Tactil components).

With the Light Control range of devices, consisting of universal dimmers and lamps, comfort-related and energy saving needs can be balanced by creating personalized and "energetically parsimonious" environments while ensuring full compatibility and absolute flexibility of installation.
The new universal dimmers are able to operate with all types of light sources, not only those offering high energy efficiency but also traditional incandescent lamps; in other words, a control component for new and existing systems alike, easily and effectively incorporated into any given architecture.
Touch screens can be used to control programmed lighting scenarios in such a way as to make each room unique while also bearing in mind the need to save energy, by switching the lights on and off when appropriate, and adjusting brightness levels to suit the situation.

RGB functions (patented), made available by installing dedicated devices, can be used to create elegant and sophisticated colour variations and interplays of light responding to any need, residential and small businesses included; in practice, it will be possible to configure and subsequently retrieve scenarios involving different functions of the home automation system, such as combinations of lights and colours associated with the audio output of the sound system, creating preferred moods characterized by effective and complete comfort.

Automation system accessories: infrared receiver and remote handset, interface for traditional 1- or 2-module switch controls.

Burglar alarm

3-module control unit used for configuration of the automation system (lights, shutters/louvres, climate, scenarios, events, load control, sound system), also essential for programming and management of the burglar alarm system; all menus are characterized by a graphic interface guaranteed highly intuitive and easy to use both during operation and during configuration of the system (the system can also be configured on a computer running the EasyTool Professional application, but requires the control unit for normal operation).

Presence detectors, flush mounting or surface mounting, mini with 17 beams on 4 levels (Vimar patent), or dual technology for flush or surface mounting.

Digital keypads used to activate/deactivate the burglar alarm system applying the different partitioning options configured with the control unit, each associated with a different numeric code that must be typed in by the user.

Transponders which, when appropriately configured, will allow total or partial activation/deactivation of the burglar alarm system.

Transponder keys and cards, guaranteeing absolute reliability and security when arming and disarming the burglar alarm system.

Back-up unit, flush mounting, houses batteries (not supplied) and keeps the system powered up in the event of a supply failure, as well as incorporating an indoor siren; or mounted  to DIN rail (60715 TH35) and, in combination with the battery frame, allowing installation on the control unit that also houses the system power supply.

Contact interfaces, available in versions with 2 or 1 x 12 V input (providing the connection for all types of detectors that require a power supply) allowing a variety of detectors to be wired to the Bus — typically magnetic contacts for doors and windows, cord detectors for rolling shutters, impact sensors for doors and windows, infrared barriers — and can also be used for the purpose of generating technical alarms.
Relay actuators, 2-module installation, allowing the repetition of alarm status information to other devices (phone communicator, etc.).

Radio frequency interfaces, allowing integration of alkaline battery powered radio devices into the Bus system, typically presence detectors, magnetic contacts and water detectors (technical alarm); the alarm system can also be activated/ deactivated totally or partially using the radio remote control.

Burglar alarm system accessories: outdoor siren on Bus (self-powered) or via radio, flush mounting indoor siren, 3 modules, landline telephone diallers for wall mounting, or GSM diallers mountable on DIN rail (60715 TH35) (GSM communicators, in particular, allow remote management of the By-me system), power supply (dedicated to burglar alarm branch), traditional wired contacts and detectors, infrared barriers and directionally adjustable mounting brackets for infrared detectors.

All flush mounting devices of the burglar alarm system are protected against attempted tampering, including removal and short-circuiting of the connection line. In effect, Eikon, Arké, Idea and Plana devices are equipped with an infrared optical anti-tamper feature: each device protects itself by emitting   an infrared ray at the back that will be broken at the slightest disturbance, alerting the system. This type of solution, patented by Vimar and requiring no additional mechanical devices, eliminates the risk of false alarms while also simplifying  the  installation  procedure  considerably.

Transponder and smart card readers, which when connected to the devices of the burglar alarm system will render the access control function available.

Implementation of the By-me system
A By-me system can be expanded over time; in effect, new components (switches, actuators, accessories) can be added without difficulty to an initial installation, simply by making the connections to the Bus and configuring them from the control unit, or on a computer running the EasyTool Professional software; there is no need to rewire the existing circuit, and no need to remove any wall-mounted component already in place.

Configuration of automation section
Home automation functions are configured by way of the central control unit, using the prompt-led menu and the configuration buttons on the devices, or with the aid of a computer running the EasyTool  Professional software.
Importantly, once groups are created, the control unit plays no further part in their operation; the devices and the  relative

functional groups remain “connected logically” one with another and require no further action on the part of the control unit. The control unit does however continue to be necessary for climate control in timed mode and for the logic functions of events.

Configuration of burglar alarm section
This is the procedure allowing creation of the zones in which the devices and their operating modes are configured. Likewise in this instance the operation is carried out by way of the central control unit, using the prompt-led menu and the configuration buttons on the devices, or with the aid of a computer running the EasyTool Professional software. The burglar alarm system requires the presence of the control unit for its correct operation.

Button operated control devices
Button operated control devices of the By-me system are divided essentially into the following categories:
Eikon Tactil home automation devices with 4 or 6 programmable buttons, suitable for activating scenarios, or controlling dimmable lights and rolling shutters;
devices with two or three rocker buttons, suitable for controlling dimmable lights, rolling shutters, scenarios;
devices with two or three plain buttons, suitable for sequential switching of lights, activating scenarios, etc.

These devices allow the control of services by way of a logic connection with relay actuators connected to the services themselves; except in the case of scenarios, each control device is connected logically to an actuator that must be selected according to the service being controlled.
On this basis, the two categories mentioned are divided further into the following types of controls:
switches with two or three rocker buttons;
switches with two or three rocker buttons and built-in actuator;
switches with two or three rocker buttons and built-in actuator for shutters/louvres;
switches with three rocker buttons and MASTER dimmer built- in actuator;
switches with two rocker buttons and built-in actuator for SLAVE dimmers;
Eikon Tactil home automation devices with 4 or 6 programmable buttons;
switches with two or three plain buttons;
switches with two or three plain buttons and built-in actuator;
radio frequency switches with two rocker buttons and EnOcean module.

With different types of controls  available,  installers  have  the greatest possible freedom in terms of configuration: for example, the actuator for operating a switched socket outlet can be associated directly with the button, or if the distance between the button and the socket happens to be greater than that between the socket and a junction box, the socket can be connected to an actuator near the junction box.

Bearing in mind the explanation of the Functional unit concept in the chapter "The System", it can be said that, at the moment of installation,each functional unit of a given device should be considered as if it were an independent device.

At the design stage, accordingly, the correct procedure is to establish the required functions initially, and only then make a list of the devices needed to perform them.

Figure 1 shows the functional units of a control device with three plain buttons and an actuator (Eikon 20545; Arké 19545; Idea 16985; Plana 14545).

During installation, for example, the actuator could be used  to control Load A using the button of another device, the left hand button to control Load B using a first actuator, the middle button to control Load C using a second actuator, and the right hand button to control Load D using a third actuator (see fig. 2).

There are no constraints on the functional units of a physical device.

All button operated switch controls present a configuration button in the front section (see fig. 3), whereas the rear section always houses the terminal for connection to the Bus.
Terminals for connection of the load on the other hand may or may not be included, depending on the type of control.

Composition of control devices
Eikon Tactil is available with home automation controls having 4 or 6 buttons, which sense the proximity of the occupant and light up, ready for use. These devices can be programmed to control lights, activate scenarios or adjust dimmable lights and rolling shutters.
Switches are available with two or three plain buttons and with two or three rocker buttons, for Eikon, Arké, Idea and Plana series.

Eikon, Arké and Plana series devices also offer the flat radio frequency control with EnOcean module, which has two rocker buttons. Switches  with  plain  buttons  are  suitable  for sequential control of lights, activation of scenarios, etc., whereas rocker buttons are suitable for controlling lights (On/ Off), dimmers, shutters and scenarios. Devices are completed as follows:

Eikon Tactil home automation controls with 4 or 6 but- tons:
- Mylar adhesive labels with various back-lightable symbols describing the function. Backlighting for these controls can be programmed with RGB colours;

control devices with two buttons:
- 1-module interchangeable buttons in cases where a dual function (i.e. two distinct functions) may be associated with the device;

- 2-module interchangeable buttons in cases where a single function may be associated with the device;
- 1-module interchangeable buttons for radio frequency con- trol with EnOcean module (two distinct functions);

control devices with three buttons:
- 1-module interchangeable buttons in cases where a triple function (i.e. three distinct functions) may be associated with the device;
- 1- and 2-module interchangeable buttons in cases where a dual function may be associated with the device (one double button and one single, hence two distinct functions).

Depending on the function to be associated, there is a wide range of interchangeable buttons available.
For versions of Eikon, Arké, Idea and Plana devices with 1 and 2 modules, there are buttons with cardboard labels, either writeable or customizable on request with text or symbols.
There is complete coordination between cover plates and inserts, and integration into existing systems will be total.

At the design stage, and when putting the system together, consideration must be given to the type of control device that will be used so as to allow selection of the back box, which in the case of switches with three buttons will be 3-module types (V71303), whereas for devices with two buttons it is advisable to use 4-module back boxes (V71304).
