Finished by fitting a pair of tabs 20506, 19506 or 14506. The flat control can dialogue with other devices that use EnOcean technology.Operation in stand-alone mode The 20505 control can also function in stand-alone mode without the aid of the By-me control unit and the radio interface with EnOcean module 20508, 19508, 14508; the control signals sent via the rocker buttons can be intercepted directly by the relay actuators with the EnOcean module 01796. This means that devices with the EnOcean module can be used even in conventional systems that need to be enlarged without any building work involved.Technical specifications• capacity: 70 m in free field conditions; this value will be lower where there are and/or metal bulkheads. Always make certain to check the radio signal before installing the device;• installation: flush or surface mounting with bracket (21507, 20507 or 19507). Can be installed on smooth surfaces, typically wood, glass, etc.The actuator with EnOcean module is able to receive both the radio signal transmitted by the Bus interface with the EnOcean module when the button of a By-me control device is operated, and the radio control signal generated by the radio-frequency rocker button (20505) for operation of the load to which the device is connected, in this instance via the relay output. In the event of a mains power supply outage, the actuator retains the previous configuration.Technical specifications• configuration push-buttons:- LRN (learning button). Pressing LRN, the actuator goes into learning mode; this condition is indicated by intermittent changeover of the relay contacts, every 2 seconds. When a new tab is stored, the output remains active for a few seconds and then resumes changeover; pressing LNR again, or after 30 seconds approx with no further input, the actuator comes out of learning mode;- CLR (clear memory button). Pressing the CLR button and holding for a few seconds, all information stored previously will be deleted and the actuator goes directly into learning mode (see previous point).• bistable relay output with the following controllable loads:- up to 50 W for LED lamps;- up to 100 W for CFL lamps;- up to 100 W for ballast;- up to 400 W for incandescent and halogen lamps;• maximum number of radio control signals storable on the relay: 30;• will not function as monostable relay.Conformity to StandardsR&TTE directive, Standard EN 60669-2-1EN 301 489-3, EN 300 220-2, EN 61000-6-2Bus interface with EnOcean moduleThe Bus interface with EnOcean module allows the use of radio frequency devices so that coverage can be extended to areas or access point where it is not possible to add Bus-wired cables and devices. The interface allows integration of the By-me system and radio devices with the EnOcean module so that all automation functions are made available, typically the control of lights, shutters, scenarios, etc. The interface manages all these functions via pairs of configurable radio controls such as rocker buttons, dimmer, rolling shutter and scenario controls and radio relay actuators. The interface moreover receives messages from the Bus devices and controls the radio-frequency actuators.Technical specifications• installation: flush mounting;• configuration button;• indicator LED;• 2 terminals for polarized connection to Bus (+, -);• radio-frequency devices storable in memory: By-me control units 01950, 01960 and 01965:- up to 16 control devices 20505 (32 rocker buttons for On/ Off functions, dimmers, shutters); the group depth of these devices is 4;- no limit on the number of actuators 01796 storable: the group depth of these devices is 30;- a single group of EnOcean devices can be associated with as many as 32 scenarios;- up to 15 interfaces RF 20508, 19508, 14508 storable (each interface can be associated with up to 32 groups);General features of the system The By-me sound system allows the creation of systems by which high quality audio signals (CD quality) from up to 4 distinct audio sources can be reproduced in different rooms simultaneously. Thanks to the variety of system devices, their integration with all existing By-me controls, and the range of coordinated speakers, it is possible to create single or multi channel systems offering full interaction within the By-me system. With free distribution of the transmitter and receiver nodes and of the control devices, the wiring simple can be kept simple, allowing perfect integration with the controls and actuators of the home automation system. The performance, the numerous functions, the flexibility of installation and above all the quality of the sound combine to make the system ideal both for residential properties (from apartments to villas) and for small business premises (health centres, shops, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets). The Technical specifications can be summarized as follows:1. 2-wire system (uses the Bus cable 01840.B) with enter-exit linear wiring, for perfect integration with By-me automation devices (which can be wired to the “audio” branch using a special branch connector for By-me devices 01903, or using the special terminal on all devices of the sound system);2. facility of using By-me control devices (button tabs, touch screens, and those connected to the automation line) for supervision of the system (switching on/off, volume control, selection of audio source, track, radio station, etc.);3. free topology (hence without a central node that would dictate star wiring), allowing the installation of transmitters and receivers at any point in the system;4. 4 simultaneous stereo channels, with CD audio quality;5. up to 60 independent listening zones;6. facility of using the Bus as FM antenna (in which case the auxiliary external antenna is not necessary);7. facility of programming maximum audio levels for each zone;8. facility of making microphone calls (3 different zones);9. ambient listening function;10. “baby control” function (signal transmitted automatically at a selected threshold);11. integration with scenarios and events programs of the By- me system (e.g. radio alarm function).System components The sound system comprises the following categories of devices:Transmitter devices These allow transmission of the sound originating from an audio source (e.g. Hi-Fi installation, CD player, portable MP3 player, etc.) to the system receivers. Each transmitter configured in the system occupies one of the 4 available channels and can be connected to any point of the system.• Audio input with 2 RCA connectors (20582, 19582, 14582), flush mounting; audio inputs decoupled galvanically from the By-me Bus.• FM radio tuner with RDS (01900), mounted to DIN rail (60715 TH35) and occupying 2 modules. Suitable also for shelf-mounting.Accessory modulesThese are devices not under the direct control of the user, but needed by the system for its operation or for the creation of various wiring/installation possibilities.• Line decoupler for By-me power supply (01902) mounted on DIN rail (60715 TH35), used at the output of the By-me power supply (or the output of a line coupler).• Branch connector for By-me automation devices (01903), flush mounting (behind inserts: installation at rear of back box).• Branch connector for speaker devices (01904), flush mounting (behind inserts: installation at rear of back box).• SELV 32 Vdc auxiliary power supply (20580, 19580, 14580) flush mounting, power input 110-230 V~, 50/60 Hz, output 32 Vdc• By-me IR interface (20584, 19584, 14584) for controlling audio sources by wire cable with IR transmitter (supplied) and remote control (not supplied), flush mounting.• Spring connector for connecting the speaker (20583, 19583, 14583), flush mounting.Docking station for iPod, iPhone 3-module Full Flat colour touch screen Functions and applications As mentioned above, the main function of the sound system is to carry an audio signal from one point of the system to another; thanks to the selection of devices available, moreover, it is possible to create a wide range of functions that will meet every type of requirement:• The transmitter module can be connected to any audio source (MP3, DVD player, Hi-Fi systems) using RCA connectors.• The FM tuner transmitter module transmits the radio signal.• The docking station is used to connect iPod and iPhone devices to the sound system, providing control of the main browsing and playback functions and allowing battery charge. If the docking station is connected to an iPhone currently playing audio tracks, it will fade the music signal down when there is a call, to maximize audibility of the telephone ringtone. The audio signal is paused and resumes playback once the call has ended.• The call microphone module allows half-duplex voice communications.• The receiver modules allow reproduction of the audio source with a different power output according to the situation and the surroundings.• The IR stereo control module allows supervision of the Hi- Fi system using the By-me controls; it must always be connected to the RCA module.• Switch tabs: associated with a rocker button, these produce an effect on the entire zone when pressed. For instance, By- me rocker buttons can be configured to switch the sound system on and off, adjust the volume, switch the audio source (channel) and skip to the next/previous track.Rocker button for switching on and off (press once) and adjusting the volume (press and hold)Rocker button for selecting the next audio source (top half) and the next track (bottom half)The button for selecting the next track can have a different function, depending on the transmitter being controlled: in the case of the FM tuner it will pass on to the next station, whereas in the case of an iPod or a Hi-Fi system it will pass on to the next track.• Zone priority: if several zones are tuned into the same channel — or playing the same audio source — control is implemented on the basis of the priority assigned to the single zones. Zones with a higher priority, among those listening simultaneously to the selected source, will be able to generate instructions (for example change track), changing the signal heard currently by all the zones tuned in.• Microphone call: in addition to audio playback, voice calls can be made using the special microphone call module. The call occupies one of the available channels and is transmitted by the receivers involved in the call; all the active zones on the call channel, that are not involved in the call, will be silenced for its entire duration. At the end of the call the zones will return to transmitting the channel to which they were tuned. It is not possible to make two calls at the same time. The following types of call are possible:- general call involving all the audio zones present in the system;- selective call involving one or more audio zones selected by the user at the moment of configuration.- “baby control” call involving one or more audio zones selected by the user at the moment of configuration.- ambient listening call involving one or more audio zones selected by the user at the moment of configuration.• “Baby control” function: the microphone module allows activation of a selective call when the volume sensed by the microphone exceeds a set threshold. If installed in a child’s room, the system puts the parents’ room into audio contact (“baby control”) according to the loudness of the noise. The call is deactivated automatically if its loudness remains below the threshold set for a certain interval of time, or if silenced locally by pressing the button on the microphone module.• Ambient listening function: facility of activating the microphone module remotely, and consequently making a selective call. This requires configuration of a By-me button within the same group as the microphone module, or configuration of a specific button on the touch screen.• Alarm clock function: with this function, activating one of the scenarios created by the user, an audio zone can be switched on for a given period of time (configurable)• Sleep function: activating this function, an audio zone can be made to switch off automatically after a given interval of time (configurable). On receiving an OFF message the receiver switches off even if it is in the timed switch-off period.• Mute function: at the time of a certain event, the volume of a zone is limited automatically to a low setting (configurable). This function is used during a video door entry call; in practice, when a call is made or the video door entry self-starts, the audio signal of the sound system will be silenced or turned down to the selected low volume setting.• Voice communication function: the system does not allow intercom calls as such, although it is possible, using the microphone module and the receivers, to make a half-duplex voice call between two zones.• Scenarios: sound system devices can be integrated into By-me automation scenarios, enhancing the application opportunities offered by the system.System architectureThe new type of transmission of musical information in digital form over the same Bus where the By-me operation and configuration data transit requires some installation recommendations for the wiring and in the construction of the system, while maintaining perfect integration with the By-me home automation system. To facilitate installation, a dark blue Bus cable 01840.B has been introduced so that the part of the system or branches of the Bus dedicated to the sound system can be identified easily and without error.Installation topologiesThe sound system lends itself to various constructions according to the needs and dimensions of the system.Installation Rules The following installation rules are compulsory in the sections of By-me Bus dedicated to the sound system:1. free wiring is not permitted in sections dedicated to the sound system, but only enter-exit linear wiring. For take- off purposes, the special sound system branch connector 01904 must be used;2. no more than 2 branch connectors can be wired per sound system (01904) between a transmitter and a receiver: this is because the connection of a branch has the effect of attenuating the signal;3. the section of Bus dedicated to the sound system is separated from the power supply (or from the line coupler if used) by the special By-me power supply decoupler 01902;4. only audio devices can be connected to the sound system (dark blue connections): By-me devices (where applicable) must be wired either using the specific branch connector for By-me devices (01903, max 10 By-me devices) or the dedicated terminal in each sound system device (branch with max 3 By-me devices);5. devices at the extremities of the sound system branches (at the start and at the end of the blue lines) must be terminated using the special jumpers provided in eachdevice. This applies to any device, be it a decoupler, a By-me power supply for the sound system, a normal transmitter or a receiver;6. when laying the Bus cables for connecting the devices, it is advisable to use corrugated conduit with a minimum diameter of 25 mm;7. do not use KNX cables: use only cable 01840.B.Current draw of devices and sizing of system: since the system can be fully integrated with By-me automation and uses the power supplies 01401, the limits on current draw to calculate for each line in the system, in general, are: max 2 By-me power supplies 01401 and therefore max 2 x 800 mA. The levels of current drawn by devices of the sound sys- tem are different to those of conventional By-me devices, and must therefore be considered when sizing the system. The following table indicates the current drawn by sound system devices.Important! The current draw values given in the table are for audio devices only and do not take account of any other automation devices that may be wired to the By-me branch connector terminal. The current draw of the receivers 20581, 19581 and 14581 1+1 W RMS (if powered directly by the Bus and not using the auxiliary power supply 20580, 19580 and 14580) reduces the distance from the system power supply, especially if installed at a number of points on the same branch:Devices DistanceWith 1 receiver 20581, 19581, 14581 powered by Bus 300 mWith 2 receivers 20581, 19581, 14581 powered by Bus 150 mWith 3 receivers 20581, 19581, 14581 powered by Bus 100 mWith 4 receivers 20581, 19581, 14581 powered by Bus 75 mThese values refer to a situation where there are two or more receivers 1+1 W (20581, 19581, 14581) on the same branch and on the same side relative to the By-me power supply 01401 (see figure below):Where devices are always on opposite branches relative to the By-me power supply, the distance must be calculated in relation to the power supply, counting the devices on the branch. Thus, depending on the number (and the type) of transmitters and receivers, it is possible to calculate the current drawn by the system and therefore the number of power supplies necessary, which in any event can be no more than 2. If the intention is to install multiple receivers 1+1W RMS (20581, 19581, 14581), it will be advisable to use auxiliary power supplies 20580, 19580, 14580:Number of devices: regarding the number of devices that can be used on the branches of the sound system, the following restrictions apply:Regarding topology, installation criteria and system constraints, the following considerations apply:• installation is linear (enter-exit), with the possibility of taking off branches using special sound system branch connectors 01904;• By-me devices must not be wired directly to the branch of the sound system but only through the connector 01903 or through the devices of the sound system (special terminal provided on each device in the sound system);• a decoupling device is necessary between the power supply and the audio transmission line: sound system Bus line decoupler 01902;• between the power supply and the line decoupler 01902 for the sound system the line maintains the By-me characteristics (free wiring, max 128 By-me devices both for the sound system + automation and for automation only);• the By-me branch connectors 01903 allow a By-me line to be taken off with max 10 devices and free wiring from the audio transmission line. There can be no more than 64 branch connectors.Audio input with 2 RCA connectors This device, with the 2 RCA connectors, is able to acquire, digitalize and transmit a generic analogue audio source (typically the output from a Hi-Fi system, CD player, portable MP3 player, etc.) over the sound system Bus.The Bus of the sound system is decoupled galvanically from the audio inputs.Technical specifications• galvanic decoupling of audio inputs from By-me Bus;• option of programming the group of association using the control unit or with EasyTool Professional;• button for configuration and manual setting of volume;• two-colour LED for configuration, manual setting of the input sensitivity and indication of ON/OFF operating status;• contact pins and jumpers for termination of audio line;• up to 3 devices can be connected to the By-me automation Bus branch;• installation: flush or surface wall mounting (with back box 09975…).Docking station This device is used to connect iPod and iPhone devices to the sound system, providing control of the main browsing and playback functions and allowing battery charge. The following controls are available:• Play/Pause: start/stop playback of the selected track;• Skip +/-: play previous track or next track;• Next/Previous artist;• Next/Previous album;• Next/Previous track;• Next/Previous playlist;• Shuffle On/Off: activate/deactivates playback of tracks randomly;• Repeat One/All/Off: repeat a track, repeat all tracks of a playlist, or repeat nothing. All controls include the facility of viewing the various elements selected (i.e. viewing the artist, album, track, or the name of the playlist), thereby enabling full remote control of the device by way of advanced interfaces (touch screen, control unit). In addition, the auxiliary 3.5 mm2 jack input allows the connection of sound sources other than the iPod (MP3 players, CD players, etc.). Inserting the jack automatically cuts off the audio from the iPod. In this case, however, remote control of external players connected through the auxiliary jack is not possible, and neither is it possible to view the content.Technical specificationsDocking station• 30-pin connector for iPod and iPhone devices;• 3.5 mm2 auxiliary jack for mp3 players (iPod/iPhone audio automatically excluded when the jack is plugged in);• galvanic decoupling of audio inputs from By-me Bus;• facility of adjusting audio input sensitivity manually;• installation: flush mounting, 2 modules;• button for configuration and manual adjustment of audio input sensitivity;• two colour LED indicating configuration, manual adjustment of audio input sensitivity and ON/OFF operating status;• contact pins and jumpers for termination of audio line;• up to 3 devices can be connected to the By-me automation Bus branch.Control device with two rocker buttons and amplifier 8 Ω 1+1 W RMSWith this device, the stereo audio signal received on the Bus can be played through the speakers connected to the outputs. In addition, on the front of the device there are two rocker buttons that can be configured for audio or automation functions (lights, rolling shutters, etc.), finished by fitting interchangeable tabs.Technical specifications• connection to 2 audio speakers (8 Ω, 1+1 W RMS);• section of cable for connection to speakers: 1 mm²;• maximum distance from speakers: 10 m;• option of use in mono mode, connecting one speaker only. The terminal not used (D or E) must be closed by fitting a 100 Ω 1 W resistor;• depending on the dimensions of the audio system, it may be possible to use an auxiliary power supply 20580, 19580, 14580 (32 Vdc SELV), so that there will be no need to install an additional power supply 01401;• two front rocker buttons with the following available functions: if configured in an audio group:- ON/OFF audio zone plus volume control;- change track and audio source;- sleep (timed switch-off);- ambient listening (implementable only if configured in a group with microphone call devices); if configured in an automation group:- ON/OFF switch;- dimmer control;- rolling shutter control;- scenario control;• configuration button;• central red configuration LED;• green LEDs located in the middle of the 2 rocker buttons (2 for Eikon and Arké, 3 for Plana) with functions configurable from the control unit;• contact pins and jumpers for termination of audio line;• up to 3 devices can be connected to the By-me automation Bus branch;• installation: flush or surface wall mounting (with back box 09975…).Call module The call module is a transmitter device allowing users to make a general call or a selective call in the zones of the system; the zones of interest are switched onto the call channel, broadcasting the relative audio. At the end of the call, each zone involved reverts to the operating status that preceded the call. The device has 3 buttons on the front, used to perform the following functions:• general call: call received by all audio zones of the system: using the control unit or EasyTool Professional, it will be possible to determine how each zone responds during a general call when the zone is off (stay off, or switch on and broadcast the call). The call remains active as long as the button is held, and ends when the button is released;• selective call: call received only by certain zones of the system (selected from the control unit or using EasyTool Professional): using the control unit or EasyTool Professional, it will be possible to determine how each zone responds during a general call when the zone is off (stay off, or switch on and broadcast the call). The call remains active as long as the button is held, and ends when the button is released.• “baby watching”: the call module can be used to turn the “baby watching” function on and off (with a special button and indicator LED); this is a function that consists in sending a selective call when the volume level sensed by the microphone exceeds a set threshold (programmed from the control unit or using EasyTool Professional). The call remains active for a few seconds even after the audio has returned under the threshold, and allows users to keep an eye on children while they are asleep, etc.;• ambient listening: the microphone module can be activated remotely: in effect, this activates the selective call. Available for the Eikon, Idea and Plana series, the system offers a range of technical solutions with different levels of complexity to guarantee the ideal solution to suit any need.Software managed access control on Bus lineThe components of the access control system on Bus line with smart card are designed for programming via software. Using the special Vimar software (supplied with smart card configura- tor 20473, 16473 or 14473) the smart cards can be configured with different operating modes: always active, with expiry date, active with time bands and with staggered accesses.Having set the operating parameters, the smart cards are pro- grammed using the configurator, a 3-module device installed on a table-mounted box, connected to a service PC via a USB. The programming of the readers in this operating mode is not done via a dip switch on each device but rather using a PC to transmit the data to the device via a cable, using the specific Vimar serial interface (connector RS232, cable and smart card connected). The device can also be programmed in wireless mode via the infrared port on the front of the reader. This system allows for advanced applications including:• the cards with expiry date are suited for managing hotels, camp sites and residences; the guest can use the card only for the agreed stay time, after which the cards become unusable;• time band cards are use to control accesses to fitness centres, gyms, swimming pools, etc.;• staggered cards can be used a pre-set number of times in car parks, gyms, beauty farms. They can be topped up, and are therefore a dynamic tool suited for continuative use over time. The software can be installed on the following operating sys-tems:PC: Windows XP®, Windows Vista®, Windows 7®, Windows 8® a 32/64 bit and Linux® (with kernel version at least 2.2.12).Access control on Bus line with smart cardSame functions as the basic system (excluding the badge switch), guaranteeing the same security and the same system methods; the electrical lock actuator is an autonomous device connected via Bus to the reader/programmer and is installed in the controlled room. In this way any tampering with the reader has no effect on the functioning of the electrical lock, and this offers greater security. The reader/programmer, a 3-module de- vice, is configured via the dip switch and, if incorporated in a Vi- mar Bus intrusion detection system, can also act as the system on-off switch. The actuator occupies 2 modules and a trimmer on the rear of the device is used to set the relay switching time, according to the kind of electrical lock used.Access control on Bus line with transponderIt has the same installation architecture as the Bus system with smart card. The difference lies in the use of a 2-module transporter card or key reader. The transponder cards and keys are absolutely safe and reliable, each one contains a different code chosen from 1000 billion possible combinations and work without batteries, so have unlimited operating life and do not require maintenance. The code is transmitted by placing the transponder card or key in contact with the connector which, if it recognises it, send a message to the actuator module to switch the relay.Access control with smart card reader/programmer with built in relayThis is the simplest, basic solution. Comprising a 3-module smart card reader/programmer, it also acts as an actuator, via the built in relay. The cards are programmed and the device configured via the dip switch mounted on the back of the device. The output relay is activated when the previously memorised smart card is recognised. When using the reader/programmer in hotels, an appropriate combination of the dip switches simplifies some functions in order to facilitate the use of the device in that context.Another type of device configuration called "intelligent switch”, is used to create a safe user control system. The output relay is switched until the previously programmed smart card remained in the reader/programmer.User enabling The users are activated economically also using an electronic badge switch. Inserting an ISO card in the reader (it may be, but not only, the one used to access the room) Transponder card and key reader The device turns the system on and off (completely or partial- ly) after recognising the code emitted by the transponder keys. Operation is identical to that of the connector with the additional characteristic, after recognising the key, of signalling system on and off not only visually but also with a buzzer inside the device. A long beep signals on, two short beeps signal off. It can be integrated with the access control system.Technical specifications• Type of protection: against opening and removal with optical anti-tamper device built in;• maximum number of keys that can be managed for the func- tion of burglar alarm system: 4 MASTER + 24 SLAVE;• maximum number of keys that can be managed for the access control function: 4 MASTER + 50 SLAVE;• protection class: IP30;• 2 module size;• installation: flush or surface wall mounting (with box 09975…).Relay actuator The actuator is a device which, with its clean contacts, is able to repeat the signal coming from the reader in order to open an electrical lock.Technical specifications• pulse operation (monostable) with adjustment of relay switch time from 0.25 s to 10 s;• protection class: IP30;• 2 module size; The device manages the accesses, assigns the security code to the set address and allows it to be copied to the smart cards (if used without configurator via the dip-switch), it reads the smart cards and notifies the relay actuator of their recognition via the Bus.Technical specifications• number of memorisable smart cards: unlimited;• protection class IP30;• size: 3 modules. The transponder keys (01815), which need neither mainte- nance nor batteries, are special devices, of the size of a key ring, whose access control function is to open the electrical lock on a door using the connector.01816 - Transponder cardThe same functions are also available using the transponder card (01816) which has the dimensions of an ISO card.Black and white customisation on back side (rear)01816 - Customised transponder cardThe same as 01816, but on request the rear of the customised card in black.16452 - Smart card• memorisation of 15 different codes on 15 different addresses;• 4.29 billion combinations;• writeable area for customisation.16452 - Customisable smart cardThe same as 16452, but on request the rear of the customised card in black.01800 - Power supply for DIN rail (60715 TH35)The device provides the power (29 Vdc) needed to operate the access control system.Designed for installation on DIN rail (60715 TH35), this product is supplied in one version only, occupying a 6 x 17.5 mm mod- ule space, colour RAL 7035 grey.Technical specifications• type: switching;• protection class: IP30;• installation on DIN rail (60715 TH35): 6 modules of 17.5 mmTechnical datapower supply 120-230 V~working frequency 50/60 Hzoutput voltage 29 Vdcmax. output current 320 mApower dissipated 3 W120 V~ 50 Hz power draw 160 mA120 V~ 60 Hz power draw 190 mA230 V~ 50 Hz power draw 110 mA230 V~ 60 Hz power draw 135 mAoperating temperature - 5 °C to + 45 °C (indoor use)Inputs Outputs Conformity to Standards LV Directive, EMC Directive, Standards EN 60950-1, EN 50130-4, EN 61000-6-301842 - Decoupling coil for DIN rail (60715 TH35) Device providing the interface between power supply 01800 and components connected to the Bus.Technical specificationsInstallation on DIN rail (60715 TH35): 2 modules of 17.5 mmConformity to StandardsEMC directiveStandards EN 61000-6-1, EN 61000-6-3Inputs OutputPower supply for DIN rail (60715 TH35)∆ 01800 Power supply with 29 V d.c. 320 mA output, supply voltage 120-230 V~ 50-60 Hz, for DIN (60715 TH35) rail installation, occupies 6 17,5 mm modules, RAL 7035 greyDecoupling coil for DIN rail (60715 TH35)∆ 01842 Decoupling coil, for DIN (60715 TH35) rail installation, occupies 2 17,5 mm modules, RAL 7035 greyThe drawings of the side views give the overall dimensions and the depth of the recess in mm ∆ Available until stocks lastAutomation: rolling shuttersThe diagram illustrates the section of the system controlling the motion of 4 rolling shutters produced by DIN rail mounted actuators, and 2 shutters controlled by flush-mounted devices with built-in actuator. The control devices have rocker buttons 14541, 14527 and 14527.1 (for positioning laths); The electrical energy required by the 4.3" touch screen is provided by a relative power supply 01830.Burglar alarmThe diagram illustrates a generic burglar alarm system with 3-module control unit, DIN rail mounted back-up unit, indoor and outdoor sirens, and sensors. The same structure can incorporate technical alarm systems operating by wire (e.g. detection of gas leaks) and radio frequency (e.g. detection of water leaks, infiltration). The DIN rail mounted back-up unit (01807), combined with the auxiliary battery unit, ensures that the system will remain powered up even in the absence of mains voltage. The control unit with touch screen governs the operation of the system, in which alarm conditions are detected by the IR sensor, the gas detector connected to the Bus interface20490.1, the RF detectors (burglar alarm and technical water alarm), and by the contact interface, and indicated by the sirens (audible warning) and the telephone communicator 01942 (SMS text message). There is also the facility of controlling on/off status, partitioning selections associated with the system, and activating the siren ("Panic" button), all from a remote control 01819 that communicates with the Bus interface by radio. In this instance it will be possible to configure the system from the 3-module control unit, or from a computer running the EasyTool Professional application.Speaker system The diagram illustrates a generic speaker system allowing the implementation of all audio control functions, and the manage- ment of independent listening zones. The FM tuner 01900 plays all the FM radio stations effectively receivable, and with the docking station 14585 installed, the user can listen to and manage the tracks on an iPod or iPhone. The CD player is connected to the RCA audio input and to the IR interface, which is able to control the player by learning and emulating the control signals of its remote control. The colour touch screen provides local management of the audio zone in which it is installed. Also illustrated are the DIN rail mounted amplifier 01901 (10+10 W RMS) and the control device withtwo rocker buttons and built-in amplifier(1+1 W RMS), which direct the audio signal respectively to the flush mounting 8 module and 3 module speakers coordinated with the relative residential product series.Likewise in this case, the system can be configured entirely from a computer using EasyTool Professional, which "dialogues" with the system by way of the RJ11 socket on the By-me bus.For further details on installation of the speaker system, refer to technical literature downloadable from the "documentation" section of the Vimar web site www.vimar.com.(Example with Plana Silver series devices)Branch termination with 2 jumpers Lights, temperature and load control The diagram shows a generic application in which the automation system controls lights, temperature and selected electrical loads. In addition to the Bus devices, the system includes an EnOcean radio interface, the relative control devices, and an actuator 01796 for switching on and off a light that could not be controlled from the By-me Bus (not prewired).On/Off switching for 5 lights is provided by a DIN rail mounted actuator and control devices with rocker buttons 19526 and 19541; a further 3 dimmable lights are connected to control device 19549 and DIN rail mounted SLAVE actuators. "At home" (all lights on) and "away" (all lights off) scenarios are implemented with rocker buttons and the 3-module colour touch screen. Climate control is split into two zones, governed by respective thermostats 19514.B and 02951.B (the latter controlling a 3-speed fan coil unit). With a single-phase system (up to 33 kW overall) the power consumption of loads is measured by a sensor 01475 connected to the load control module 01455 and displayed on the screen of the control unit 21509.B.The entire system is configured either from the control unit with touch screen 21509.B, or from a computer running the EasyTool Professional application.Shutters, temperature control, bathroom pull cord, switched power socket, photovoltaic energy produc- tion and load controlThe diagram illustrates an application in which the automation system allows local operation of shutters by way of control devices with rocker buttons and built-in actuator, and climate control (1 zone) by way of the thermostat; the touch screen 20511.1 on the other hand allows supervision of all the shutters and thermostats installed, and the user can change the timer settings for climate control, program temperatures, and select the operating and retrieval mode for scenarios (e.g. "At home", "Away", "Nighttime", "Shutters up", Shutters down").There are 3 shutters in the example illustrated: 2 with laths and one conventional; besides being raised and lowered, the laths can be angled to obtain a greater or lesser level of brightness in a given interior, according to requirements, by jogging the relative actuators with the rocker buttons. In addition, with the temperature sensor 20432, the touch screen will display the temperature in the zone where the sensor is installed. THERE is also a photovoltaic system for the production of electricity. Automation aboard. With By-me Marine the automation system climbs aboard the f inest boats in of automation to yachting. This system i s designe d and manufacture d entire - works, the most popular international standard, therefore able to communicate on high- profile boats. By-me Marine i s guarante e d by Vimar, world leader inLights and automations control. The groups of lights and groups of motorized blinds are controlled from here, for the greatest cruise comfort.Automation control panel. This is the heart of the system, all the functions are managed and program- med from here by navigating through the display in a straightforward user- friendly manner.Multi-function remote control. With the programmable infrared remote control you can manage all the functions: lights, automations and scenes.the world to transfer the best l y by Vimar but open to KNX net- with the enter tainment systems e le ctric installations for boats. The fundamentals of By-me Marine.Few cables and a great deal of safety. An automation system is substantially different from a conventional one. There is only one cable that sup- plies all the devices, and a low voltage Bus cable that transfers information between all the compo- nents of the system. This means fewer cables, less weight, smaller sized conduit, and greater safety.Great flexibility. The function of each command is not defined: it can vary according to the control panel programming. This means maximum flexibility in configuration. The system can be customized according to the cus- tomer’s needs and reconfigured without any need for new wiring. An intelligent system.Group commands, activation of scenes and time cycles can be accomplished with the control panel without increasing the structural complexity of the system or increasing the number of connections. This means being able to depend on a truly intel- ligent system.Safe maintenance. The commands used by the system are all low voltage and equipped with a self-learning func- tion. This means they can easily be inspected and if necessary replaced even by non-specialized personnel. Extra safety when you’re sailing.367ScopeHaving a wide and comprehensive range of products for making electrical systems in the residential but also in the tertiary sector makes Vimar one of the sector’s consolidated leaders that shows interest in new market niches too.A special note goes to the world of shipbuilding, a sector where Vimar is one of the world’s leading supplier: the finest boats, from large cruise liners to luxurious private yachts, sail safe and in comfort thanks also to the style and technology of Vimar products. From Italy to the United States and New Zealand, the most handsome craft sail the seas with Vimar products on board, valued by designers for their technical features and by users for being practical, safe and reliable to use. These features are in addition to those of style, which are fundamental for those who deal with the interior decoration of these particular surroundings. The design and wide range of Vimar stylistic solutions, also with a vast choice of natural materials, from wood to stone and glass, besides stainless steel and metal, provide countless choices and possibilities of customization to satisfy everyone’s taste and style.Leadership in the marine market is certainly the result of a series of details and investments made prior to commercialization. By-me Marine was indeed conceived and designed to ensure the electric and mechanical characteristics are maintained for long periods, often under extremely harsh conditions of use, in the presence of moisture with high salinity, vibration and sudden variation in temperature. To ensure this performance is maintained, 100% production control is done on every single piece produced. Furthermore, each piece is tested before being warehoused. With the same passion Vimar has tackled the home automation market, a rapidly growing sector that is showing interest in this new system. While initially someone had mistakenly labelled it as an elite, luxury and exclusive solution, home automation soon became the versatile, modular and complete alternative to every technological function now available. The Vimar home automation system, introduced in 2004 and subsequently developed with the By-me products, is now one of the most valid and competitive systems on the market. The fundamental initial choice, that of opting for an open international standard, KNX, used by the main companies that deal with building automation, enables communication with all the devices, even if they are made by other companies that use this standard. This is a guarantee also for the future maintenance and implementation of the system. The user interface, easy and customizable, the wide range of functions and the right quality price ratio make By- me a home automation system to fulfil every expectation.Vimar and the By-me home system has now evolved thru rigid testing to become By-me Marine. By-me Marine is the only fully modular automated marine switching system in the world tested to marine standards. Thus we have By-me Marine, the automation system conceived specifically for yachts. To fully satisfy the specific needs of the sector, that Vimar well knows, starting then with solid experience, the devices of the home automation system most suited for marine installation were identified and specifically redesigned, also to fully satisfy the most restrictive standards in the sector. All the devices have been developed to be used with a supply voltage of 12-24 V or 120 V 60 Hz.After a significant period of testing, subjecting the products to the worst environmental conditions in the laboratory, field tests were carried out with test installations on vessels that have sailed thousands of miles in real-world conditions of use.The essential functions of the By-me Marine system are lighting controls, motor controls and programmed scenes.Besides these functions strictly tied to the world of automation, By-me Marine can be integrated into most audio video entertainment systems. In this way comfort, automation and entertainment become a single system capable of communicating and interacting with the user in a simple and friendly manner, making it possible to forget the technological complexity behind the single systems. Let’s see some application examples in detail:In the main salon, it is possible to govern the many lights and motorized blinds normally present by calling up scenes (Relax, Party, Off General, TV, etc) with dedicated push- buttons or remote controls. From the cockpit, the Shipowner’s cabin or the Captain’s quarters it is possible to switch off all the lights of the boat with a single button, or open or close all the motorized blinds at the same time.Eikon and IdeaBy-Me Marine offers two distinct styling choices, the Idea and Eikon series.Recognized worldwide as the standard switch system for yachting, the Idea series is available with the timeless Clas- sica square edge or the modern Rondò rounded edge cover plates. Components are available in either white or gray for both styles. In the Eikon series, you may choose between Classic and Round cover plates as well, but in addition to gray and white components, you can choose the exciting “Next” series which offers components in beautiful matt silver.Main functions The By-me system makes it possible to manage the installa- tion using the following controls:• Lighting management, with on/off control and light adjust- ment;• Shutter control;• Scenes;• Function centralization and automation.• Functional unit: part of a device that can be considered as if it were a separate device. Some examples:1. Device with two functional units: in the device with actua- tor for 2 roller blinds with 8 A relay (art. 01982 for DIN rail (60715 TH35) installation) each output is a functional unit.2. Device with four functional units: in the device with actu- tator 4 change-over relays (art. 01981 for DIN rail (60715 TH35) installation) each output is a functional unit.During the installation phase, each functional unit of any de- vice must be considered as through it were a separate de- vice. At the design stage, then, it is necessary to plan the functions to create and only afterwards prepare a list of the devices thy must activate. The diagram opposite shows the functional units of a control device with two rocker push buttons ( Eikon 20523 series; Idea 16963 series). There are no limits on the use of the functional units of a physical device. When a load is to be controlled, it is nec- essary to provide one control device and one actuator con- nected to the load.• Connection: logic link between two functional units, which allows a function to be shared (for example: relay actuator and push-button).• Configuration: operation that can be used to create the logical connection between various functional units• Functional group (or Group): set of functional units con- nected to each other, which perform a system function (for example: three different push-buttons that control one ac- tuator, and therefore the same load). The devices that make up a functional group are connected to each other logically, not by conventional wiring.A group must be made up only of homogeneous functional units: any group cannot contain an actuator for rolling shut- ters and an actuator to control the lighting of a lamp.To control the switching on of a load from different points, it is sufficient to add more functional units; it is not necessary to modify the wiring.• Group depth: number of groups to which one functional unit can belong. Each functional unit can belong to a maximum of 4 different groups.• Scene: a scene is an exact positioning of the actuators in one or more functional groups that can be called up as preferred from a menu on the control panel or with a button configured for this purpose. For example, the rolling shutters could be lowered and a lamp lit in the room at the same time.• Parameters: these can be set at the control unit, and are used to modify and customize the operation of each functional unit. For example, the relay actuator 01981, during configuration, behaves like a two-position stable relay. However, it can be configured as a one-position stable relay; in this case, the ac- tuation time must also be defined.• Line: any set of devices up to 128.• Scene depth: number of scenes to which a group can belong. Each group can belong to a maximum of 4 different scenes.• Bus line: equipment used to carry the electrical or electro- magnetic signals associated with the messages between the system devices.• Bus system: set of devices and their interconnections creat- ing applications by using a common communications frame- work.• Command: functional unit that sends commands and/or sta- tuses over the bus line.• Actuator: functional unit that receives commands and/or sta- tuses from the bus line in order to carry out a predetermined action. The system in general is made up of three main families of func- tional unit:• Controls (for example, push-buttons and sensors)• Actuators (for example, relays and regulators)• Controllers (for example, the control unit). Each line can be composed of at most 128 devices and needs one or two power supplies depending on the number of devices and the length of the Bus.System configuration starts with the creation of functional groups (it is better to think in terms of functional groups rather than individual devices), which is the only operation strictly necessary for the system to function. During the installation phase, the first operation is therefore to assume the functions that are to be made available. Subsequent operations, such as placing a number of devices together in one scene or setting a number of automated functions, should be treated as a system customization or as the use of advanced functions. After the groups have been created, the control panel no longer has any part to play in the way they operate; the devices and related functional groups are “connected” to each other and do not require any intervention by the control unit (the control unit is still needed, however, for managing functions such as scenes, air conditioning, automation, timed base functions).Topology of a line During the design phase, it is essential to arrange for a switchboard with sufficient capacity to hold:• conventional devices, circuit-breakers, etc;• 1 or 2 power supplies sized 9 modules of DIN (60715 TH35) rail;• DIN (60715 TH35) rail devices such as the actuators (change-over relay outputs, 2 roller blinds, dimmer).• surge protection devices to protect the installation. It is advisable to use a dedicate cable trough for the corrugated tubes that carry the Vimar 01841 cable for the Bus line; however, the ones that carry the mains power cables can also be used.Bus line length: general rules• Max. distance between power supply and device: 350 m.• Max. distance between devices: 700 m.• Max. length of the bus cable: 1000 m.• Min. distance between 2 power supplies: 40 m.It is important for the load to be well distributed between the two power supplies.Essential requirements:• The distance between two power supplies must never be less than 40 m;• The load must be well distributed between the two power supplies;• The two power supplies should be placed at the ends of the one of the circuits of the system that has the largest number of devices or branches. In all cases, the optimum configuration is where the power supplies are placed as far as possible from each other; this also has a positive effect on the minimum voltage present on the bus.CharacteristicsBy-me Marine was indeed conceived and designed to ensure the electric and mechanical characteristics are maintained for long periods, often under extremely harsh conditions of use,Rear views and connectionsin the presence of moisture with high salinity, vibration and sudden variation in temperature.Front view and inner cross-section Configuration push button Inner conformal-coating electronic circuit for salinity protection.Special buttons suitable for the marine ambient.Example of installationThe example locations show the typical settings of a salon with a number of light points (one floor lamp and various wall units) that are all dimmable and a motorized roller blind. The light can be controlled from any point and the roller blind by a rocker switch near the window. Another rocker switch, again at the entrance, enables activating four pre- set scenes, for example:OFF - all the lights off, roller blinds down;TV - floor lamp off, wall light on 50%, roller blinds down; PARTY - floor lamp on 100%, wall light on 30%, roller blinds up; NIGHT - all the lights on, roller blinds up;Installing an infrared receiver enables using the remote con- trol to manage the lights and roller blinds separately from any point in the room or to call up the pre-set scenes.By-me Marine - Flush mounting devicesFlush mounting monitorThe control unit By-me for marine sector makes it possible to manage the installation using the following controls:• Lighting management, with on/off control and light adjustment;• Shutter control;• setting up scenes, timed based function and more;To be installed in 8-module (4+4) flush mounting boxes V71318.Technical specifications• Rated supply voltage: 18-29 Vdc ± 20%.• Monitor LCD: 480x234 dot, RGB Delta, 0.150x0.216 (mm) dot pitch.• Operating temperature: -5 °C - + 45 °C (from indoor use).OperatingTo navigate through the control unit menu, use the 10 buttons on the front, which have different meanings depending on the context and the menu currently selected. The central unit 20552 has connectors for the Bus and power supply connection.Conformity to StandardsEMC Directive, Standards EN 50428For MARINE use, this device has been submitted to the follow- ing tests:IEC 60068-2-52 - Test Kb: Salt mist, cyclic (sodium, chloride solution), IEC 60068-2-6 - Test Fc: Vibration (sinusoidal)This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules (with the limits for a Class B digital device). Generally installed so that calls can be made from locations inside the building (landings, secondary entrances, etc.).Functional group (By-me)Set of functional units connected logically with one another to provide one function of the system (for example: three different buttons operating a single actuator and consequently controlling a single load).Physical address (By-me)A unique code (alphanumeric) that identifies the single device within the system.Intercom (Video door entry systems)Optional function allowing audio/video communication between two internal audio or video door entry internal units.Bus line (By-me and video door entry systems)A pair of conductors (polarized) establishing the means by which the various components of the system are interconnected. These wires carry both the power supply and all the information need for monitoring and control of the system.Riser (Video door entry systems)Term used to indicate the cable runs by which internal units are connected to the power supply.External unit (Video door entry systems)Generic term used to indicate the entrance panel or landing call button.Internal unit (Video door entry systems)Single audio or video door entry phone device, allowing the occupant of a property to identify a caller at the external unit. Generally speaking, besides allowing communication with the entrance panel, the internal unit will include controls for releasing the lock of a front door/gate, switching on stair lights, etc.Group depth (By-me)Each functional group can belong to as many as 4 scenarios.Scenario depth (By-me)The number of groups to which one functional unit can belong. Each functional unit can belong to as many as 4 different groups.Properties of functional units (By-me)These can be set at the central controller, and are used to modify and customize the operation of each functional unit. During configuration, for example, the relay actuator (Eikon Evo, Eikon 20535, Arké 19535, Idea 16757, Plana 14535) is bistable. However, it can also be configured as monostable; in this case it will also be necessary to set the deactivation time.Universal dimmers (By-me)Devices allowing control over the brightness of dimmable incandescent, LED (white and RGB), fluorescent and halogen lamps or LED strips, to reduce power consumption, prolong the life of the "source" and create comfort scenarios for a variety of interiors.Scenario (By-me)The scenario is a mechanism whereby a number of devices, from different groups, are activated to create a predetermined set of conditions. For example, the rolling shutters of a given room could be lowered, and a light switched on at the same time.Home automation system (By-me)In essence, the integrated management of different functions in a given system (global supervision, local and remote control, speaker system, automation, lighting, energy management, climate and access control, video door entry, CCTV, technical and burglar alarms), whereby the components become parts of a coordinated whole.Entrance panel (Video door entry systems)A set of audio and video devices allowing identification of caller seeking access to a building or a single dwelling.Touch screen (By-me and video door entry systems)The touch screen is the local supervision interface, allowing the user to interact with the By-me system: touching the screen at the points where the icons are displayed, control signals are generated to operate the various functions managed by the system (automation, climate control, burglar alarm, speaker system, video door entry).CCTV (Video door entry systems)A set of video devices allowing the installation of a surveillance system covering one or more rooms or areas. With security in mind, CCTV surveillance will generally include the capability of recording the images captured by indoor and/or outdoor cameras. CCTV systems must com- ply with the provisions of specific regulations governing and protecting the privacy of persons passing through areas under observation.
