世聯(lián)翻譯公司完成恭王府景區(qū)介紹英文翻譯
Anshan Hall
Anshan Hall is the main building on the axis of the Garden. It is located on the northern bank of Bat Pond. This is where the owners used to receive important guests when they lived in the garden. It is based on a high terrace, with a spacious hall made of five unit sections, and small annex buildings in front and running cloisters in the back. The cloister links to Mingdao House to the east, and to Dihua Veranda to the west. The whole building looks like a giant bat.

Baoguang Hall
Baoguang Hall is the main building of the third yard on the west side. It used to be a private guest room for Prince Yi Xin, named after the plaque “Bao Guang Hall” handwritten by Emperor Xian Feng. Long before Prince Yi Xin, the hall had been used as a guest room by Prince Qing and long before him too, by Emperor Qian Long’s notorious prime minister He Shen. “He Shen’s Confiscated Possessions” in the Year of Jia Qing recorded that officers searched and confiscated He Shen’s 26,000 taels of gold hidden in a sandwich wall. The sandwich was located in this hall.
Duofu Pavilion
Duofu Pavilion is the main building of the third yard on the east side. It used to be the main guest room for Prince Yi Xin. It was named after the plaque “Duo Fu Pavilion” handwritten by Emperor Xianfeng. It was said that Prince Yi Xin received the representatives of the English and French Invasion Army here. The pavilion was a witness to humiliation and sadness of that age. Long before this, the east side had been the residence of He Shen’s son Feng Shen Yin De and daughter-in-law Princess Gu Lun. Feng Shen Yin De used to read books and receive guests in Duofu Pavilion.

The Fu Stele
Inside the Secret Clouds Cave beneath the Jade Rock is embedded a stele on which there is a big Chinese character Fu, meaning blessing, handwritten by Emperor Kang Xi. The stele is a precious cultural relic attributed to the mid-Qing dynasty. It is said that Emperor Kang Xi had handwritten this character Fu in honor of his grandmother Empress Dowager Xiao Zhuang on her sixtieth birthday. Imbued with the common wishes for numerous sons, loads of talents, expanses of fields, a long and satisfying life, and lots of blessings, the big character Fu was meant to be a gift praying for more blessings and a long life for Empress Dowager Xiao Zhuang. This anecdote has become a legend in the Chinese history. Later this character was inscribed secretly by He Shen on the stele and hidden in a cave. Another character Shou, meaning a long and happy life, was inscribed on the rock wall behind the stele to form a background frame for the character Fu. Such a design was to pray for a long and happy life full of blessings on a blessed land. The handwriting works of Emperor Kang Xi have been rarely seen, especially the Character Fu. Through the history this Character Fu has been hailed as the supreme Fu by the Chinese people. The Fu Stele is a treasure of Prince Kung’s Mansion, together with the three other wonders of this mansion.
Bat Pond
Bat Pond lies right to the north of Solitary Joy Peak. It was named as Bat Pond thanks to its bat-like shape and also to the same pronunciation of Bat and Blessing in the Chinese language. Water in the pond is crystalline clear and rippling and sparkling, offering a feast of scenery both in and beside the pond. Seven ancient elms grow green and lush and lean to the pond. When spring comes, elm seeds descend slow and slightly onto the water surface of Bat Pond. The pronunciation of elm seeds is “Yu” in the Chinese language, and that of bat is “Fu", being the same with another Chinese character meaning wealth. The combination of “Fu” and “Yu” denotes “wealth” in the Chinese language. In fact, the shape of the pond is also like gold ingot in ancient China. People feel even more fortunate when they see elm seeds falling into the pond. As a result, people also call this pond a cornucopia.

Mansion’s Gate
Mansion’s front gate is situated on the axis of the mansion and also the gate to the first yard. Tourists can understand the privilege of the imperial prince of Qing Dynasty reflected in their residence. There are 7 horizontal and 9 vertical golden doornails on the vermilion painted gate, inferior only to 9 horizontal and 9 vertical doornails of the gate to the Forbidden City. Two grand stone lions sit in front of the gate. From this gate, tourists can see that the roofs of the main buildings on the axis are all decorated with green glazed tiles to demonstrate the nobility of the prince.

Houzhao Terrace
Houzhao Terrace is the main building of the fifth yard of the Mansion. Houzhao Terrace is a common name for the rear building in all the princes’ mansions of Qing Dynasty. This one in Prince’s Kung’s Mansion is the biggest, with a total of 108 rooms and 151.2m in length from east to west, far more magnificent than those of other princes. It is said that it was He Shen who had bent the law in building this mansion. There are 44 windows decorated with various brick engravings in the back wall. It is said that the 44 windows were used to mark the different treasures that He Shen had hidden there. Houzhao Terrace is definitely the biggest wonder in the Prince’ Kung’s Mansion.

Ledao Hall
Ledao Hall is the main building of the fourth yard on the east side. It used to be the residence of Prince Yi Xin. It was named after the plaque “Le Dao Hall” handwritten by Emperor Dao Guang. Long before this, in He Shen’s period, it had been the residence of Princess Gu Lun, Emperor Qian Long’s daughter, after she was married to He Shen’s son Feng Shen Yin De. It has been proved that in that period it was called “Yan Xi Hall”. The north beam of the Hall is decorated with magnificent golden phoenixes, marking the honorable position of the princess.

Dragon King’s Temple
Dragon King’s Tempe, where the sculpture of Dragon King is enshrined, is located between the residences and the garden, a little bit by west. In front of the temple is an ancient well, one of the four ancient wells linked by the water bodies of the garden. It is clearly marked in the drawings of Prince’s Kung’s Mansion in the Qing Dynasty that Dragon King’s Temple is where the water bodies converge. The owners used to pray to Dragon King for favorable weathers and outstanding talents.By now Prince Kung’s Mansion still stands flourishing and vibrant with activities.

Fragrant Pavilion
Fragrant Pavilion is a two-storeyed lotus-shaped and flat-roofed wood structure to the north of Elm Pass, with the top floor called Fragrant Pavilion, and the bottom floor called Prajna Hut. The roof of the upper structure is round, while that of the lower structure is square, symbolizing Yin and Yang and the round sky and square earth. The round implies unpredictable changes in the sky, and the square implies fixed shapes of things on earth. Such an architectural design is a mark of everlasting prosperity throughout the ages.

Qinqiu Pavilion
Qinqiu Pavilion is a small octagon located to the east of the Solitary Joy Peak, also called Flowing Cup Pavilion. In the ground of the pavilion is a winding and curling flume, along which water always flows from an ancient well behind the rockery. In ancient times, the literati used to gather together in a place like this to “drink from the wine cup floating along the flume”, a tradition described in “Preface to the Orchid Pavilion Collection” by Wang Xizhi, a famous calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. The owner of the mansion used to entertain his friends here, writing poems and drinking wine, enjoying their leisure time in a very cultured way.

Mountain Gods Temple
Mountain Gods Temple is a small gate tower on the hillside to the southeast of Elm Pass ramparts. The owner of the Mansion used to worship the gods encarnalized in four animals: fox, snake, hedgehog, and weasel. It is said that these four animals, which were often seen in the garden, had been worshipped as god and exalted guests by all the owners of the Mansion throughout the history. When people in the Mansion got sick or encountered mishaps, they’d offer tributes in front of the temple, burn incenses and kowtow, praying for help. Every time they did this, their wishes were fulfilled. In the present day, all of the above mentioned animals except for foxes are still often seen in the garden.
Xijin Palace
Xijin Palace is the main building of the fourth yard on the west side. It is the only palace in the Mansion that has 7 unit sections separated by pillars. Prince Yi Xin used to store his collection of precious treasures here, such as “Pingfutie” a calligraphy work by Lu Ji, an honorable litterateur in the Western Jin Dynasty. Long before this, this palace had once been named as “Qingyi Hall” by Prince Qing. Before this too, it had been He Shen’s residence, called “Jiale Hall”. It is said that it was named after the plaque “Jia Le Hall” handwritten by Emperor Qian Long. Among the 20 crimes accused by Emperor Jia Qing, the 13th crime committed by He Shen was this palace made of Phoebe SPP, which was well beyond his rank. The inner decorations made of Phoebe SPP are still intact today, and hailed as a national treasure.
Yin’an Hall
Yin’an Hall is the main building in the third yard on the axis of the Mansion. It is also called Yinluan Hall, the main building of the whole mansion, equivalent to Taihe Hall, or the throne hall of the Forbidden City.
Yin’an Hall is where important ceremonies used to be held. In the old days, the prince’s throne was in the middle of the hall, with an imperial screen behind it, and all the important documents such as those related to appointment, promotion, and the official seals displayed here.
